Cradle of Filfh - Discografia

 

O Cradle Of Filth é uma banda inglesa originária de Suffolk, Londres e foi fundada em 1991 por vocalista e principal compositor Daniel Davey ou melhor Dani Filth. O estilo do conjunto viaja pelo Black e pelo Death Metal, tendo ainda grandes influências do Gothic e do Thrash Metal. Com toda esta mistura, mais a inclusão de elementos sinfônicos, o Cradle Of Filth criou uma sonoridade única, que eu considero como Symphonic Black Metal, embora aceite que os considere pertencente a outro estilo.
A line up inicial era de Dani (vocais), John (baixista), Darren (bateria), Robin (guitarras), Paul Ryan (guitarras) e Ben Ryan (teclados).
Após a gravação de algumas demos e a mudança de Robin para o baixo, o Cradle assinou o seu primeiro contrato em 1994 e lançou seu primeiro LP, The Principle Of Evil Made Flesh pela gravadora Cacophonous Records.
Com o prestígio adquirido com o primeiro trabalho, a banda assina com uma gravadora maior a Music For Nations. Nesta época entram para a banda o tecladista Damien e o guitarrista Stuart Anstis. A vocalista Sarah Jezebel Deva entra para a banda em 1996, e com esta formação gravam o excelente Dusk... And Her Embrace em 1997 o tecladista Damien sai para seguir sua carreira de escritor de matérias para uma revista de metal e no seu lugar é posto Les 'Lector' Smith. Com a line up estabilizada, a banda lança seu próximo álbum Cruelty And The Beast em 1998. Cruelty é outro ótimo trabalho do conjunto, mas nenhum lançamento da banda iria chegar perto do disco seguinte: Midian, lançado em 2000, e considerado por muitos o melhor disco da banda até hoje.
Com Midian, o conjunto conseguiu uma grande repercussão em todo o cenário do Metal, agradando até mesmo aqueles que não era muito adeptos de Black e Death Metal.

Depois do grande reconhecimento, o conjunto assinou com a gravadora Sony em 2002, o que acabou sendo surpreendente, pois a Sony não constuma trabalhar com bandas com este perfil.
No ano seguinte, a banda lança seu quinto álbum de estúdio Damnation And A Day, trabalho conceitual que fala sobre a criação dos anjos até a ascensão do diabo frente a Deus.
Apesar de desenvolver um bom disco na Sony, o COF muda novamente de gravadora, lançando Nymphetamine pelo selo AbraCadaver em 2004. Esse é outro trabalho fodaço! E que ainda conta com a participação especialíssima de King Diamond nos backing vocals na faixa Devil Woman (eu sabia que o Dani era fã do mestre Diamond).
Assinando com outra gigante, a Roadrunner Records, a banda parece ter se estabilizado com uma gravadora. A convivência com a Roadrunner, trouxe excelente frutos, sendo eles Thornography (2006) e o conceitual Godspeed On The Devil's Thunder (2008).
