Sonata Arctica - Discografia

Originária da cidade de Kemi, na Finlândia, o Sonata Arctica teve seu início em 1996, com o nome de Tricky Beans. Contando com os músicos Tony Kakko (vocal e teclado), Jani Liimatainen (guitarra), Janne Kivilahti (baixo) e Tommy Portimo (bateria), eles gravam a demo Full Moon em 1999, já com o nome de Sonata Arctica. Mais tarde naquele mesmo ano, o primeiro single de Sonata Arctica foi lançado, intitulado UnOpened. O single rapidamente entrou no Top 20 Finlandês, e a banda logo obteve contratos com diversas gravadoras do mundo. Seu debut, o álbum Ecliptica, foi lançado ao fim do ano, obtendo reviews positivos de críticos musicais. Neste ponto, Tony Kakko decidiu se concentrar apenas nos vocais, então contratou Mikko Härkin para ocupar a posição de tecladista. Esta escolha se mostrou muito acertada, não que Tony não fosse um bom tecladista, mas Härkin tinha uma ótima técnica e proporcionou duetos memoráveis de teclado e guitarra com Jani Liimatainen. Com o apoio de bandas como Stratovarius e Gamma Ray, o Sonata entrou rapidamente no mercado europeu, ganhando a admiração de todos, principalmente pelas suas apresentações ao vivo. Já mais solto que no começo, por não ter mais que tocar teclado, e até pela experiência adquirida, Tony Kakko, roubava a cena por onde passava, pois seu timbre musical era bem diferente, dos demais vocalistas de Power Metal. Em 2002, com fim da turnê Americana, Mikko Härkin deixou a banda por motivos pessoais. Em seguida, o Sonata grava o álbum Winterheart's Guild com a ajuda do mestre Jens Johansson (Stratovarius), que auxiliou Tony Kakko nos teclados. Para as apresentações ao vivo, o escolhido para substituir Härkin, foi Henrik Klingenberg, que logo se tornou um membro fixo do conjunto. Henrik, é um ótimo tecladista, mas ainda acho que o Mikko Härkin faz falta. Em 2006 é lançado o cd e dvd For The Sake Of Revenge, um ótimo álbum e que reuniu os maiores sucessos da banda. O dvd é muito bom mas com o Härkin seria bem melhor. Com o fracasso de vendas de Unia, em 2007, disparado o pior álbum da carreira da banda, Jani Liimatainen deixou-a, dando lugar a Elias Viljanen. Em 2008, veio Deliverance, álbum que é uma espécie de coletânea de músicas que saíram em outros álbuns como bonus tracks ou em singles é no ano passado foi lançado o albúm The Days Of Grays que também é um otimo cd.
